Room Dividers vs Open Shelving in Studios

When a KALLAX-style cube shelf is enough separation — and when a Murphy bed changes the math.

Open shelving as soft divider

IKEA KALLAX 2×4 (30⅛ × 57⅝ in) can stand as a partial wall while storing bins. It does not provide acoustic privacy.

When beds dominate the floor plan

Lori Beds’ Queen Horizontal Murphy-style system is manufacturer-positioned around gas-piston wall beds with a lifetime warranty claim. It is often direct-to-consumer; confirm shipping and wall requirements before assuming Amazon availability.

Lightweight surfaces

LACK nesting tables tuck under each other when guests leave — useful when the divider already consumes floor width.
